Crown vs. Veneers

A crown encases the whole tooth all around to strengthen and protect the remaining structure. Crowns are made up of porcelain. Purpose of a crown is to make the core of the tooth structure strong if a tooth is broken or badly decayed. It can also restore a tooth if significant structure is lost due to grinding or gastric acid reflux. Veneers are also made up of very thin porcelain. Veneers cover only the front surface of teeth. They can be used to change shape, color, form and alignment. With either veneers or crowns, the idea is to have the best natural looking restoration with longevity. The lifespan of either depends on oral hygiene, proper care and eating habits.
